Trailer: This Is 40 - Dec 21
Written and directed by Judd Apatow, starring Paul Rudd, Leslie Mann, Jason Segel, Megan Fox, Melissa McCarthy, Chris O’Dowd, John Lithgow, Maude Apatow, Iris Apatow, and Lena Dunham.
I understand the want to use fun.’s “We Are Young” but at this point the song isn’t doing them any favors. That said, this is an appealing trailer but isn’t as funny as one would expect. (Maybe a full length or red band will be?) There are welcome appearances from Jason Segel and Melissa McCarthy but Paul Rudd’s taint might be the best of all. The trailer doesn’t ruin much so hopefully the rest of the marketing campaign will continue to hide the best jokes and plot developments.

Red Band Trailer: Ted - July 13
Directed by Seth MacFarlane, written by McFarlane, Alec Sulkin, and Wellesley Wild. Starring Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, Giovanni Ribisi, Patrick Warburton, Joel McHale, and Seth MacFarlane.
Somewhere between Paul and Wilfred lives Ted. This trailer isn’t as funny as I was expecting it to be but I do think it has potential. MacFarlane’s incorporation of talking animals into his cartoons works because they’re cartoons and it’s easy to suspend disbelief, I’m afraid that’s going to be more of a challenge here. (And probably why the marketing points to TedIsReal.com.) Also distracting is the fact that Ted’s voice is very similar to Peter Griffin. For now I still plan on going to see this one and am generally excited for MacFarlane’s first feature attempt.
Yes! I llove me some Mark Wahlberg!!!
